Submitting State Tax Requests

Accessing the State Tax Change Request Page

Follow this procedure to submit a state tax change request.

  1. Click the Request Tax Changes link on the Payroll page. The Tax Requests page displays.

  2. Click the New Request link. The Tax Requests page displays.

    The Request Type field defaults to Federal, and the Current Federal Tax Information area displays your current federal tax values defined in your electronic personnel record.

    Note: The message displayed in the General Information area is entered by the LINQ EP administrator. This message may change so it is important to read the message each time you make a request.
  3. Click the Request Type Drop-down List button and select State from the list. The Current State Tax Information area displays your current state tax values defined in LINQ ERP.

Entering the W-4 Changes

  1. In the Effective Date field, click the Show Calendar button to select the date the change to go into effect; or type the date in mmddyyyy format. This field is required if submitting changes to your State Code, Plan, and/or Exemptions or if you are exempt from state tax withholding.

Leave this field blank if your Exempt status, State Code and Exemption values have not changed.

  1. Click the State Code Drop-down List button to select the current withholding state.

  2. Click the Plan Drop-down List button to select the current state tax plan.

  3. If applicable, in the Exempt field, select the appropriate value:

  1. If the Exempt field is equal to No or is blank, enter the following fields, if applicable.

  1. In the State Tax Change Request area under Additional Withholding Changes, enter the following fields if applicable to your situation:

  1. In the Comments area, type comments to the approver about this request.

  2. Click the button to submit your request. You will receive an automated e-mail that contains the request details and its current status (pending).

    The request is automatically routed to the first approver in the approval chain.
